Read your e-books — right in your browser

Open EPUB, MOBI and other e-book files. Your books stay on your device.

An e-book reader with nothing to install

BookFit opens e-book files right in your browser tab. Drop a book on the page and start reading. There is no app to install and no account to make.

Your books are never uploaded. BookFit reads the file from your disk and keeps it in your browser's own storage, so your library is there next time — on this computer, in this browser. It works offline.

EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2 and CBZ comic files all open. Books bought with copy protection (DRM) can't be opened by any reader except the store's own, and that includes BookFit.

Reading the way you like

Safe with books from anywhere

An e-book file is a small web page inside, and a badly made or hostile one could try to run code or load images from the internet to see who is reading. BookFit removes scripts and outside links from every chapter before showing it, and the page is locked so that nothing in a book can reach the internet.

Frequently asked questions

Are my books uploaded?

No. Books are read and kept on your own device. Nothing about them — not the file, not the title, not your place in it — is sent anywhere.

Can I read Kindle books?

DRM-free MOBI and AZW3 files open fine. Books bought on Kindle are usually copy-protected, and only Amazon's own apps can open those.

Where is my library kept?

In your browser's storage, on this device. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. Your original files are never changed.

What does it cost?

Reading is free — any book, any length, with the whole library, themes and layout. A one-time purchase adds Save as PDF and search inside books. There is no subscription.
